Naomi Jane “Toots” (Overmyer) Johnson, age 93 went to be with her Heavenly father on February 18, 2022 in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born June 22, 1928 in rural Paulding County, Ohio, near Payne, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Stella (Paterson) Overmyer.
Naomi graduated from Payne High School in 1946 and from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Ft. Wayne, IN in 1949. She worked as a registered nurse for 43 years: for C.G. McEachern, M.D.; Parkview Hospital, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Naomi retired from the VA after 20 years as the operating room supervisor. She was a member of the New Haven United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved her family, her yard and flowers; playing pinochle and bridge; Genealogy; and The Ohio State University football and basketball teams.
Survivors include her daughter Jennifer Barnes of Delaware, OH, son John Johnson of San Jose, CA., beloved granddaughter Caylin (Andy) Amador of Richmond Hills, GA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She joins in Heaven her parents, brothers Richard and Charles Overmyer, and sisters Neva Enyeart, Marjorie Pursell, nieces Patricia Overmyer, Nancy Simms and a nephew Terry Overmyer.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 8, 2022, at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Highway, New Haven, with visitation one hour prior. Graveside service will follow at 1:30pm on Friday April 8, 2022, at Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne, Ohio.
