Stan, Newell Manning Standridge, Jr., departed this world on May 22, 2025 at the age of 77. Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; devoted grandson, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend reaches far; renowned bluetick coon hound hunter and breeder whose love, generosity, and kindness reaches far beyond his large family and circle of friends.
We celebrate his quick wit, endless charm, and dogged determination to carry on. He has passed this love of life on to all who know and love him. Newell Jr.'s infamous good-natured sense of humor, charisma, strong work ethic, generosity, and prioritization of family, as well as his bonus families, will live on with those he left behind.
Stan's family were his greatest blessings. He is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, two children, one son-in-law, four grandchildren, and his first great grandchild. Sandra Standridge was the love of his life; the mother of his children, the grandmother of his grandchildren, the great-grandmother of his first great-grandchild; children Kelly & Jeff Handley (grandchildren Alex Handley, Dakota Handley) and Colby Standridge (grandchidren Zane Standridge, Georgia Standridge & Khai Ngo (great-grandchild Jonah Ngo)).
He also leaves behind daughters-in-law Carrie & Brian Baker (& their children Noah Baker, Elliot Baker) and Dora Lee (& her children Morgan & Martin DeWit family, Dawson & Allie Graham); siblings Dorothy 'Dottie' Standridge, Tim Standridge & Teresa Wilson, Jan Standridge, Donna Stephens, Denise Jarnigan, and Dawn & Jeff Haynes; sisters-in-law Donna & Carl Bolton and Susan Teffeteller; brothers-in-law Jack Petree & Linda Crass and Robert Hubbard. Newell Jr. was blessed with many cousins, aunts, uncles, grandaunts, granduncles, and over 50 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Newell Jr. was preceeded in death by his parents, Newell M. Sr. & Doris Standridge; sibling, Deborah 'Debbie' Petree; sister-in-law Joann & Don Naman; brother-in-law Bryant Jarnigan and many other loving family, as well as friends who were like family to him. Friends he'd had since his children were young include Mack Singleton, Howard 'Red' Anthony, Richard Welch, Francis Wilmot, Harold White, Leslie Scott, and Ed Parkins...his large community of friends and hunters reached far beyond the realm of these few men and hold a special place in his heart.
Family will receive friends at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley located at 1320 E. DuPont Rd., Fort Wayne, Indiana 46825 on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 11am-1:30pm, followed by a celebration of life. Family will accompany Newell to his final resting place: Highland Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Victory Junction would honor his legacy. Created in memory of Adam Petty, Victory Junction allows children with serious medical illnesses have the 'joy of being a kid'. Stan's continued contributions began with his sister-in-law and brother-in-law's supporting the organization.
Until we meet again, Pappy, we love you.
