

Olive Ann (Minniear) Gerard, 101, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home in Garrett, Ind. Born to E.V. and Zelma (Metzger) Minniear in Angola on August 1, 1920, she lived in the Garrett/Fort Wayne area for most of her life. She was married to Paul H. Gerard of Mishawaka on June 6, 1948, and he preceded her in death in 2012. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1942. She was a teacher for twenty years in Gary, South Bend, Muncie, and Fort Wayne. She was a member of the Huntertown United Methodist Church, Omicron Nu education sorority, and Tri Kappa; she was a pianist/organist, enjoyed travel, playing bridge and following IU basketball. Surviving are sons, Daniel C. Gerard and Scott E. (Cate) Gerard; grandsons, Michael, Kevin, and Ryan; step-granddaughter, Rachel (Jonathan) Hinds; step-great-granddaughters, Lillian and Aria; and sister, Mary Alice (Larry) Shoudel. Olive was also preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother; and son, Gary V. Gerard. Private graveside service will be held in Huntertown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Turnstone Org. for Handicapped Children and Adults in Fort Wayne or to Lifehouse Church, Huntertown, Ind. Arrangements entrusted to D.O.
