

Ollie May Hughes of Fort Wayne, Indiana was 83 when she passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Parkview Hospital Randallia. She was born on December 27, 1936 in Holly Springs, Mississippi to the late John and Desmerree (Smith) McKinney.
As a native of Fort Wayne for over 50 years, she united with Providence Baptist Church serving as an usher for many years. She later joined Promise Land Church there she enjoyed visiting the sick and shut-in, singing in the choir, and was Vice-President of the Missionary Board and was Head Usher until her health began to fail her.
She retired from General Electric with 33 years of service. Ollie also had attended Central High School and was a member of the GE Elex Club. She was also a mediator advocate for children with CASA for many years.
Ollie will always be in our hearts. We will remember how she loved baking cakes, adult coloring books, quilting and sewing, and her love to sing to her plants and flowers. She lived life to its fullest.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence L. Hughes, a daughter, Elizabeth Delane Walker, two grandsons, Abad Hughes, Jr., Casey Alexander Hughes; and brother, Lowell McKinney.
Surviving are her children, Utana Kendrick, Kai T. (Samara) Kendrick, Eric (Melissa) Hughes and Abad (Robin) Hughes; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
