Orval R. Shryock

Orval R. Shryock, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, in Fort Wayne. Born in Willow Springs, MO, Orval worked as a teacher with Emmanuel Lutheran School and later with Fort Wayne Community Schools. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Orval was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He and his wife, Ellen, volunteered at the church, Wellspring, and Community Corrections. Orval also volunteered in the ACPL Genealogy Dept. Surviving are his wife, Ellen VanAuken; children, Catherine (George ) Kariger, Renee Albright, Jennifer (Russ) Lichtsinn, Bob (Pat) VanAuken, Mack (Brenda) VanAuken, Linda (Tom) VanAuken-Fisher, and Billy (Tisha) VanAuken; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; brothers, George H (JoAnn) Shyrock and Joe (Susan) Shryock; and sister, Rhea Anne Matthews. Orval was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Nannie Shryock; and son-in-law, Gregory Albright.

Service is 11:00 am, Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 W Jefferson Blvd with calling one hour prior. Calling also at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
