PATRICIA L. (MARTIN) BEHRNS, 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully at 12:48 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. She was born Jan. 19, 1929 in Fort Wayne, the daughter of the late Bernard F. and Mary E. (Maloy) Martin. Pat graduated from Central Catholic High School and worked as a secretary at General Telephone. On May 12, 1951, she married Frederick W. Behrns from Kalida, Ohio at Precious Blood Catholic Church. She was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking for her large family, gardening, sewing, playing cards and socializing with her square-dancing and bowling friends, her Central Catholic Women’s Club and working Fort Wayne’s election polls (“her day away”). She enjoyed traveling to Florida with Fred and her pet, Punky, in their retirement years to be closer to Mary and her family as well as walking the beaches collecting sea shells, playing shuffle-board, and doing crafts with the ladies from church. She especially enjoyed eating popcorn and Zesto’s ice cream during family outings. In her later years, struggling with health issues, she remained spirited and quick witted and continued true to her Catholic faith. "Pat will be remembered as a compassionate and dedicated mother and grandmother who always had time and patience for each child, who was loved and respected by her family and friends and who was an avid cat lover and owner."
