

Patricia Ann (Strobel) Lundy, 86, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on January 10, 2021. She was born on December 4, 1934 in Lansing, MI to George E. Strobel and Florence Louise (Prescott) Strobel. Her sister Ruth was born three years later. They moved to the country when Pat was in 6th grade. As a child she enjoyed scouting, singing, swimming on the school team, playing tennis and raising a little chick each spring. Their family moved back to Lansing when she was in 10th grade.
Patricia graduated from Lansing’s Sexton High School in 1952 and Michigan State University in 1956, where she majored in Elementary Education. She had wanted to be a teacher since her mother and grandmother had been teachers. She married her high school sweetheart, David A. Lundy, on August 25, 1956, after dating since 10th grade.
Pat taught first and second grade for six years in Saline, MI; Woodbury, NJ; and Ann Arbor, MI supporting Dave while he completed two degrees in Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan, worked at Socony Mobil in NJ, then completed law school at U of M. Dave began his patent law career in 1963 with Hood, Gust & Irish in Fort Wayne, then formed his own firm Lundy and Welch in 1972 and later Lundy and Associates.
Pat resigned from teaching to raise her children but helped with bookkeeping at the law firm and was an active community volunteer. Pat was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne for 57 years and was extremely active, serving with deacons for 14 yrs., covenant and small groups, choir, the hospital visitation team, driving the senior citizen grocery van about 25 yrs. and singing in the choir. She served on the board for West Central, was a Precinct Committeeman, and volunteered with RSVP, Science Central and the Botanical Gardens.
Pat was also a 50-year member of Chapter AO, P.E.O. Sisterhood, holding offices more than 10 years, including three separate terms as Chapter AO President. She represented her chapter on Reciprocity and was an International Chapter Convention delegate twice. She enjoyed being a mother, teacher, gardener, scout leader, playing tennis, cards, sewing, biking, and sailing, spending summer weekends at Clear Lake.
Pat also loved travelling internationally and around the US. The first trip was driving to California with her parents and grandparents when she was 6. Her favorite trip was a First Pres church trip to the Holy Land. She was able to take trips to Italy, Russia, France, Thailand, Malaysia, China, Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, England, Wales and Scotland, as well as Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean islands, most with Dave, many with Kristin, and she drove again to the west coast, camping and hiking with Jon before he married. Pat and Dave also enjoyed several cruises including thru the Panama Canal, an American Sternwheeler river cruise in Oregon and a two-week trip to Alaska when the family celebrated their 50th anniversary.
She is survived by her daughter Kristin Lundy DeMello (Stephen) of Kalamazoo, MI and son Jon David Lundy (Beth) of Okemos, MI. She has 5 grandchildren Sarah Lundy, Claire Lundy, Christian Lundy, Daniel DeMello and Caroline DeMello. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years David A. Lundy, her parents George E. Strobel and Florence L. (Prescott) Strobel and her sister Ruth E. (Strobel) Shetron.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne on May 2, 2021 at 1:30 pm, preceded by a masked visitation at 12:45 in the narthex.
