Paul Rosenhahn, of Fort Wayne, Indiana died Tuesday, January 9, 2024. He was 92 years old. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joan; daughters, Paula (Jim) Carboni, Nancy (Dan) Henson, and Amy (Nick) Petrone; grandchildren, Audrey, Dominic, and Sophia Petrone; and four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Huddleston.
Paul was born in Fort Wayne in 1931 to German immigrants, the late Herman and Anna. He did not learn English until he went to the first grade. He graduated from Central High School in 1949 and started his professional life as a tool and die maker with General Electric. He moved on to CTS Tool and Die, then opened his own machine shop in 1972 with long time friend and co-worker, Allen Brown. They sold the shop but he continued to help them with more complicated projects for a few more years.
In his earlier years, Paul had been very active in the Sports Car Club of America, working as a chief tech inspector at races from Mid-Ohio to the grands prix at Detroit and Curacao. Later on, he rekindled a childhood interest in model airplanes, now the radio controlled variety rather than flying on a control line, and was an active member of the Flying Circuits and SAM.
In all of his endeavors, he was known for his expertise and precision. He valiantly helped his daughters with math homework, but sadly, he did not pass those high-level math genes on to all of them. He helped countless RC flyers improve their planes, engines and flying skills with that precision and his willingness to share his knowledge. He will be missed at the flying field and Thursday breakfast, and leaves a hole in the hearts of his family.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
