

Penny Celesta Nickels, 49, of West Hollywood, California gave her final bow to this world on September 5, 2015. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was a graduate of both Homestead High School and Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She loved art, languages and literature and spent time studying in Italy. Penny studied both French and Italian. Her first job was with Bowles/ Sorokko Art Gallery on Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles. She would later meet a couple of writers on Saved by the Bell, a Saturday morning sitcom. Impressed with her wit and comedic timing they suggested she join the cast and crew. She had twenty-one years of television production experience on multi-camera SAG/AFTRA shows as a performing stand-in, including table readings, blocking, network run-throughs and camera on thirty different productions. She also did guest star roles and voice overs. Including voice overs on two animated Disney and Fox films. After attending a commercial workshop, she performed in a couple of local Los Angeles commercials. Other Saturday morning sitcoms included, Saved by the Bell, New Class, College Years, Calif Dreams, City Guys, Hang Time and Malibu, California. The night time evening comedy sitcoms included but not limited to were, Reba, Rules of Engagement, Normal Ohio, Happily Divorced, Surviving Suburbia, Melissa & Joey, See Dad Run, Bill Engvall and several others. We looked forward to her weekly calls and how happy she was doing what she loved. She went on to register her given name as her stage name. Surviving are her parents, James and Delores Nickels; sister, Lynnette (Bob) Price; niece, Mindy (Josh) Beekley; nephews, Jason (Megan) West, Nathan (Ashley) West and Austin West; great-nieces, Ava and Harper West; great-nephews, Brison Beekley and Maddox West; aunts, Shirley Lawson and Glenda (Tom) Garrison; and uncle, Dean (Carole) Farney. A private family service was held for her with entombment at Greenlawn Memorial Park 6750 Covington Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804.
