

Pete lived a life marked by service, leadership, athletic achievement, and dedication to his family. A graduate of Auburn High School, Pete was an exceptional athlete. As a twelve-time letterman in football, basketball, and track, he demonstrated the determination, teamwork, and competitive spirit that would define his life.
After High School he proudly served his country in the United States Navy serving on the USS Kula Gulf as well as a stint at the NAS in Hutchinson, KS. Pete used to joke that he spent four years in the Navy travelling and “playing basketball.”
Pete worked hard all his life. He worked as a fireman on the railroad in Chicago, was a produce Manager for Jewel stores in Chicago and the Southgate Kroger store in Ft. Wayne. He spent many years managing the warehouse and covering sales duties at Garns Co. in Auburn as well as working at Messenger Corp. in Auburn and Indiana Marine Products in Angola.
Pete was deeply involved in the Auburn community. He served as an Auburn City Counselman, contributed his time and talents as a member of the Fair Board, The Auburn Lions Club, the Stroh Lions Club, and the Auburn Little League. Through these organizations, he built lasting friendships and helped strengthen the community he loved.
On January 17, 1959, Pete married his lovely bride Thais (Ervin) Muzzillo in Chicago, IL. and spent the next 61 years together until her passing in 2020.
Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thais, his Parents Louis and Angelina Muzzillo, his brothers Ralph, Arthur, Stanley, Louis “Wayne,” and his sisters Louise Shanabarger, Erma Wappes, Marjorie Weaver, and Sue Kelley.
He is survived by his sons Louis (Sheri) Muzzillo of Angola, IN, Eric Muzzillo of Louisville, KY, and Robert (Dawn) Muzzillo of Fayetteville, GA. He also leaves behind 7 Grandchildren. Ryan (Jenny) Muzzillo, Nicole (Ryan) Gatchel, Travis (Justine) Muzzillo, Hannah Muzzillo, Alexander (Taylor) Muzzillo, Thomas Muzzillo, and Joseph (Kayla) Muzzillo. He also leaves behind 7 Great Grandchildren.
A grave side service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn, Indiana.
The family extends its gratitude to all who cared for Pete and supported him throughout his life. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
