Obituary of Dr. Philip C. Schubert
Philip C. Schubert, M.D., 89, of Fort Wayne, IN , passed away Thursday, March 7, at his residence. Born August 23, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Lawrence J. and Helen M. Schubert; he graduated from Anderson High School, Anderson, Indiana, in 1952 and from a four-year tool and die apprenticeship at Guide Lamp, Division of General Motors, in Anderson in 1956. Following his service in the U.S. Army, he attended Indiana University undergraduate school and obtained his M.D. degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1965. Philip practiced family medicine in the Fort Wayne area until 1995 at which time he became the full-time medical director of Physicians Health Plan in Fort Wayne, retiring in 2004. He was the medical staff President for Parkview Hospital in 1979. He was a member of the Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite for many years and attained the status of 33° Master Mason. Philip has previously served on the Allen County Council and was a long-term member of the Fort Wayne-Allen County Board of Health. He is survived by his wife Linda L. Schubert; sons, Christopher L. (Colleen) Schubert and Gavin B. Schubert; daughter, Lee Ann (Carl "Rocky") Bryan-DePrimio; step-son, Michael J. Berles; grandchildren, Shaun Bryan, Samantha Schubert, Tucker Schubert, and Chandler Tracey; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Judith "Jack" Aiken. Funeral service is 10:30 am Wednesday, March 13 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Friends and family will be received from 4 - 7 pm on Tuesday, March 12 at the funeral home. Entombment at Lindenwood Cemetery.
