

Phillip A. “Phil” Renz, 63, of Wolcottville, passed away, Friday, July 25, 2014. He was born on November 30, 1950, in Fort Wayne to the late Alfred Renz and Bertie (Smith) Scherer. He graduated from Bishop Luers High School, Saint Francis College, and later from IU Law School. Prior to his retirement, he was a partner at Carson Boxberger, LLP. He was a member of Sons of American Legion Post 381, Kendallville Eagles, and Adams Lake Conservation Club. He enjoyed bass fishing at Adams Lake where he lived after his retirement and also fishing at Loughborough Lake in Battersea, Canada. Surviving family include his wife, Mary A. (Lange) Renz; daughter, Leslie A. Hook; siblings, Sherry (Bill) Eaton, Suzie Scherer, Jerry (Wendy) Scherer, Jr., Larry Scherer, Richard (Chris) Scherer, Michael (Jan) Scherer; and two beloved dogs, Einstein and Rosie. He was also preceded in passing by his step father, Jerry Scherer, Sr. A funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 420 West Wayne St., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 4-7 pm on Monday, July 28, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Noble County Animal Shelter.
