

Phyllis was born on May 1, 1926, in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Wade Holman and Naomi D. Jackman. She graduated from North Side High School. In 1947, she married Merle Morkoetter. Phyllis enrolled at IPFW following retirement, and obtained an associate’s degree in general studies at age 60. She worked at Phelps Dodge, and retired from Central Soya where she worked in the International Division as an administrative assistant. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and was the first church secretary when the church was officially started. Phyllis studied French at IPWF and also at the University in Dijon France for one semester. She made several trips to France with members of her family. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and all sewing. Survivors include her children; James Morkoetter, Jill Roe, and Jan Evard all of Fort Wayne; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon Sale of Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and step-father, Glen Ramsey.
Funeral service will take place on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 1:00pm with calling 2 hours prior from 11:00am-1:00pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Burial will take place at Covington Memorial Gardens. Officiating the funeral service will be Chaplin Roberta Ring.
