
Polly Anna Weis, 90, of Corydon, IN, passed away August 31, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born August 15, 1933 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Roscoe H. and Mary F. Blackman.
She graduated from Georgetown High School in 1951 and on May 27, 1955 she married Kenneth L Weis.
She spent her married life raising a family and farming with her husband in New Middletown, IN. Polly took an active role in tending to the farm animals and field work in addition to housework and raising a large garden. Polly was an active member of St Peter’s Lutheran Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, Luther League Sponsor, and member of the LCW. She also volunteered at the Corydon blood bank, drove a school bus and volunteered for the New Middletown Fire Department Chicken Dinner fundraisers.
Ever the loving and nurturing soul, following her parents’ death, Polly was a caregiver for her brother Melvin for nearly 25 years.
Polly is survived by her children, Lorraine (Bryan) Mussatti of Fort Wayne, IN; Rhonda (Arden) Smith of Lowell, IN; Wendell Scott Weis, Jennifer (Timothy) Lattire both of Elizabeth, IN; sister Patricia Sue (Jerry) Reeves of Brownfield, TX; brother Johnny Blackman of Federal Way, WA; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday September 16, 2023 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church 655 Saint Peters Church Rd SE Corydon, IN, with visitation from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the church.
