RALPH J NUSBAUM, 86, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 8, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Born August 6, 1936, in Harlan, Indiana, he was a son of Howard and Mary Nusbaum.
He graduated from Riverdale High School in Saint Joe, Indiana, in 1955 and married Phyllis Baker on July 18, 1959 who passed away in 2003 after a battle with cancer.
He faithfully served his country in the Indiana Air National Guard with the 122nd Fighter Wing for 42 years, retiring at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in 1996. He was an active member of Waynedale Baptist Church where he met his current wife, Dotsy Pressler and they married on March 7, 2006.
He loved spending time with his family, and especially his grandchildren.
Ralph is survived by his current wife, Dotsy (Pressler) Nusbaum; children, Brenda (Al) Bowen of Cheltenham, Md., Vicki (Tom) Spurling of Fort Wayne, Deborah (Darrel) Pointer of Fort Wayne, Sandy (Jim) Altman of Baxley, Ga., and David (Sharon) Pressler of Angola, Ind.; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy (Wade) Fry of Fort Wayne.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mary; his first wife, Phyllis; grandson, Adam Bowen; and siblings, Frances Sheefel, Richard and Ronald Nusbaum, and Phyllis Kimes.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2023, at Waynedale Baptist Church, 633 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Waynedale.
