Sorry to learn of Keith’s passing.  I knew him through the Steuben County Literacy Coalition when I was a board member and he taught the adult education courses.  He was such a wonderful person and such a great help to adult learners in the program.   I offer my condolences to his family.

Sending my deepest condolences on the passing of Mr Greathouse. As one of his many students, I'll always remember his tough exterior over his caring heart. He put everything into his job and there was no doubt he wanted all of us to be the best we could be. We were blessed to have him in our lives.

In my time at Harding he was the assistant principal and he was fair but hard. I have the greatest respect for the man as he helped me become the man I am today.

He was my teacher and even though it’s been over 20 years, I remember his classes like they were yesterday. He will truly be missed. 

Very sad news. Mr. Greathouse was the assistant principal at Village Woods Jr. High with my father Lake Glendening as principal. My dad thought very highly of him as did I. Rest in Peace. Will miss your birthday wishes.

Mr. Greathouse you was nothing short of a wonderful person. I just have to share  a couple of stories. I got caught fighting a kid that was spitting on the wall of our then brand new school Paul Harding. Well I got brought down to the office where he grabbed me by the arm and forced me into his office. He slammed the door told me to sit down and said “can I get you a coke”. And the last one in home room he was doing the announcements one spring day that was supposed to have bad weather. Part of the announcements was where detention would be held. His reply that day was “ those in detention today will be on the roof watching for tornadoes”. He was a man that was stern but also very caring and giving. Always willing to stop and help. He was a man that I truly admired and respected.Rest well Mr. G you made so many lives better. Mike Eme PHHS 1978

Mr. Greathouse was the Vice-Principal at Woodlan when I was there. While he low-key scared the crap out of me, he was also the coolest administrator. He feigned irritation and disappointment and talked a big game, but we could always crack him up and it was clear he cared about us. Even in the last several years, he always wished me a happy birthday on Facebook.  I was lucky to be one of 'his' kids. He will be greatly missed.

I knew Mr. Greathouse from WHS, he was a great individual and even though very intimidating at times with his looks, our group always called him Mr. Smiley, we could always get him to laugh, smile and shake his head at us during the lunch hour.
He always offered good advice and I'm glad to have known him during my time at WHS.

Thank you for a lifetime of love, memories and teachings. You can now rest in the arms of meemaw and jesus. We are sad here on earth but know you are teaching and loving those in heaven. I will never forget riding back from Myrtle Beach singing “Rollin in my sweet babys arms” 16 HOURS STRAIGHT.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Mr. Greathouse's passing.  I knew him at WHS during my senior year; physically tall, he was an imposing figure but also genuinely passionate about education. In the fall of my first semester at college, Mr. Greathouse and our former guidance counselor made the trip to central Indiana to visit my fellow classmates and me, to see how we were doing.  I vividly remember all of us sitting at a big table in the administration building, and at one point Mr. G leaned back and stated that it took him about 6 months to fully adjust to college life.  That seemingly casual statement had a huge impact on those of us struggling to assimilate: his words gave us the support we needed.  But I knew him best through his professional relationship with my mom, an English teacher at WHS.  They were both passionate about education and admired each others' high standards.  It was a pleasure to stay connected over the years and to enjoy Mr. G's continued work with literacy programs in Steuben County.  I write these words so his daughters know what a profound impact he had on so many.  "Greaty" truly lived up to his nickname.
