Rex O. Stinson, 89, passed away on October 12, 2024, in Cincinnati, OH. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Paul M. and A. Mae (Smith) Stinson. Rex graduated from South Side High School, class of 1953. He earned a B.S. from Indiana University, Bloomington, where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He worked at the Magnavox Company for 36 years in several financial capacities. Rex married his beloved wife, Josephine Creviston, in Niles, MI, in 1960. They were married for 64 years.
Rex and Jo enjoyed traveling. They visited all 50 states and several other countries. Rex also enjoyed visiting his family and took satisfaction in watching his grandchildren develop. He was a big fan of IU basketball and enjoyed playing golf and doing volunteer work. He was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife and children, Amy Gerhart of Dublin, OH, Jane Sotkiewicz of Cincinnati, OH, and Tom (Loretta) Stinson of Andover, MN. Grandchildren, Graham and Anne Gerhart, Tanner, Braden, Carter (Alyssa), and Laina Sotkiewicz, and Oliver and Lyle Stinson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, R. Wayne Stinson of Fort Wayne; his sister, Laticia Smith of Crofton, MD; his brother-in-law, Ross Creviston; and his sister-in-law, Francoise Creviston of Milan, MI.
Funeral service will be held on November 2, 2024, 3:00pm at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior. Reception to follow after the service. Burial will take place at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN.
