Obituary of Richard C. Anderson Sr.
Richard C. Anderson Sr. 87 of Ft. Wayne, Indiana died peacefully in his sleep while he battled with Alzheimer’s disease. Dick was born on January 19, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio to Carl and Evelyn Anderson. Dick married his high-school sweetheart, June Jones Anderson, on July 11, 1959 in Cleveland, Ohio. He proudly served his country with the ARMY and the ARMY Reserves in 1956-1962. He attended Bob Jones University and Asbury College and got an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was became an excellent CAD/CAM Designer and Instructor for many manufacturing software departments. He also taught Sunday school to children and adults over the years. He loved going to church every Sunday with his family and singing in the choir was very special to him. Dick's hobbies were photography, filming videos, working on his computer, and playing music with his wife, June. Dick was the happiest with his wife by his side; he was devoted to her for 64 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He loved to visit his grandchildren and always made time for them. Dick had 4 children; Connie Sarnie (George son-in-law), NH, Becky Thompson (Larry, deceased) IN; Carole McGrath (Brian son-in-law) MA, and Richard Anderson Jr. Dick NH; a sister, Marilyn Reba, GA; 10 grandchildren;11 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. In 1952, Dick accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at 16 years old and every since then, Christ has been the center of his life. Dick loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a faithful, godly, and spiritual man. He attended Coventry Baptist Church in Ft. Wayne, IN under the preaching of Pastor Blair. Dick leaves behind a wonderful family legacy and will forever be in our heart. Psalm 37:3 “Trust in the Lord and do good”. In lieu of flowers a donations may be made to the Samaritan Purse or to Coventry Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Majestic Care -West Allen and ProMedic Hospice for their care. A graveside service will be on Monday, November 13th, 2023, at 10:00 at Marion National Cemetery.
