Obituary of Richard "Dick" Desch
Richard "Dick" Desch of Albion, IN formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020. RIchard was born October 19, 1924 in Defiance, OH. Richard graduated from Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne. After graduation Richard joined the U.S. Army during World War II. During his service he was wounded and received the purple heart for bravery and valor. After his service he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after 38 years. Richard was an avid golfer, scoring two holes-in-one during his golfing years. He was well read, and a quick wit and a dry sense of humor. He loved a good cigar along with a glass of good scotch. Richard was a force to be reckoned with and was adored by his family Richard is survived by his children, Cheryl (John) Bender, Deborah (Bob) Ruch, Jeffery (Susan) Desch; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Marceline; sisters, Amelia, Florence, Bernadette, Veronica, Gertrude and brother, Oswald. A private service will take place at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Albion, IN. Arrangements entrusted to D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Northridge Village Nursing Home, Albion, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Albion, IN or to masses.
