Obituary of Richard "Dick" D. Leitch
Richard “Dick” D. Leitch, 86 passed away May 27, 2024, at Story Point Fort Wayne North. He was born September 30, 1937, in Albion, IN, the son of Dallas and Mary Edith Leitch. Dick grew up in Noble County, Indiana and was an electrician by trade. He began working for PB Arnold Commercial Mechanical Contractor in Ft. Wayne and worked his way up to being the operating supervisor overseeing all the business operations: electrical, plumbing and HVAC divisions. While working at PB Arnold, in 1967 he also began development and construction of Redwood Estates, a mobile home park in Ft. Wayne which he also owned. In 1971, he left PB Arnold to start his own commercial mechanical contracting company, RNL Electric, Inc., which also had electrical, HVAC and plumbing divisions. He later acquired and added ownership of two additional businesses, KS Electric, Inc., and a commercial insulation company. In 1983, Dick and his wife, Nancy, started and owned Natures Corner, Inc. a flower and gift shop, which was located at the corner of State Street and Spy Run Avenue in Ft. Wayne and later Nature’s Corner Antique Mall. Dick retired from his businesses in 1995. He enjoyed buying and selling antiques and working outside and maintaining their property. Dick was a devoted husband, father, and family man. He enjoyed time with, and instilled a strong work ethic in, his children and grandchildren. Dick is survived by: his wife, Nancy E. Leitch of Fort Wayne, IN; children, Ryan (Amy) Leitch, Robert Leitch, Chris (Eric) McClees; brothers, Willard (Effie) Leitch, Danny (Kim) Leitch; sister Marcille (Joe) Leatherman; his 10 grandchildren, Tim Leitch, Jessica (Ryan) Odden, Ellie (Ethan) Pape, Matt Leitch, Emily (Evan) Williams, Josh Leitch, Jake (Alyssa) Leitch, Connor (Madi) McClees, Hannah Leitch and Leah (Adam) Wheeler; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons, Richard, Ronald and Randy Leitch, his parents, and eight siblings. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday June 4, 2024, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation 2 hours prior, beginning at 11:00 am. Burial and committal immediately following at Riverview Cemetery, Eel River Township, Allen County, IN. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Heartland Hospice.
