

RICHARD L. PHILLIPS, 90, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Hicksville, Ohio, Dick graduated from North Side High School in 1943 and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indiana Tech. He was an Eagle Scout and an Air Force veteran of World War II. Dick was an insurance agent with Lincoln Life for 50 years and was honored as 'Agent of the Year' in 1968. He was a member of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, a 33rd degree Mason and a 50 plus year member of the Fort Wayne Country Club. Dick served on numerous boards and was very involved in the Fort Wayne community. His hobbies included golf, traveling and working in his yard. He enjoyed spending time in northern Michigan and at Hamilton Lake where he was one of the first ones to ski and use the ski jump. Surviving are his daughters, Susan (Bob) Duncan of East Lansing, Mich. and Debby (Dave) Lehman of Orlando, Fla.; son, Rick (Penney) Phillips of Fort Wayne; his loving companion, Peggy Murphy of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannie Phillips. Service is 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne St., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo or First Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
