

Richard G. Rohrbach, 96, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025. He was born in Allen County, Indiana on July 1, 1928, a son of the late Albert and Adella (Doctor) Rohrbach. Richard was raised on a farm outside of Hoagland, Indiana at Minnich and Rohrbach Roads. He went to Emmanuel Lutheran Elementary School on Wayne Trace and Hoagland High School. Richard was in the United States Army from 1952-1954 and spent over 14 months in Korea during the Korean War. Richard has been an active member of Waynedale United Methodist Church since 1964. He served as a greeter and usher throughout the years and also served on many councils and committees. He worked on the family farm raising turkeys and later raised chickens on his own farm. He enjoyed his work as a livestock feed salesman and won various awards for his work. Richard also worked at Waynedale Lumber Company and Colonial Bakery, as well as East Allen County Schools where he worked as a custodian, retiring in 2003. He enjoyed spending time with friends, gardening and woodworking. His most cherished times were those spent with the love of his life, Judy, both of his children and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always there when you needed him.
Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy (Cummings) Rohrbach; daughters, Debbie (Keith) Scheumann and Lisa (Jim) Scheumann; grandchildren, Melissa (Dustan) Dorrel, Brock (Clarissa) Scheumann, Kari (Nick) Robin, Kyle (Amber) Scheumann, Cory (Jessica) Scheumann, Connor (Hannah) Scheumann, Cody Scheumann (Caitlin Moore), Brooke Scheumann, and Hayley (Noah) Gerig; and great-grandchildren, Klayton, Porter, Braylon, Desmond, Savannah, Paige, Madelyn, Mackenzie, Aria, Kendall, Kelsey, Carly, Alice, Greyson, Norah, and Amor'a. He was also preceded in passing by his brothers, Gerald, Wilmer and Kenneth Rohrbach; and one granddaughter, Kristi Scheumann.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, March 31, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial to follow the service at Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorials in Richard's memory may be made to Waynedale United Methodist Church or Riley Children's Hospital.
