

Rickey attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne, IN. Upon graduation, he joined the Air Force, serving as a command control specialist and reaching the rank of SGT. In the years that followed, Rickey carried the same steady discipline and resilience into his working life—first as a driver for UPS, and later through 20 years with Mickeys Linen Company, retiring in 2018. His life reflected a deep sense of responsibility and devotion, marked by loyalty, faithfulness, and a firm commitment to providing for those he loved, including a belief in paying his bills on time.
Beyond work and duty, Rickey’s adventurous spirit and compassionate heart were often felt through music. An avid jazz musician on jazz bass guitar, he will be remembered for playing for gospel quartets and music videos, offering his talent with quiet generosity and a presence that brought people together.
Rickey will be remembered by Latanya M. Dixie, wife of 5 years. His parents, Larry Gritton and Sadie Mae Wortham. Children Rickey D. Dixie, Jr and Alonna Dixie. His grandchildren, Tyijia Benson, Alaysianea Dixie and Liyah Dixie. His sister, Treacey Dixie and Nephew Timothy Dixie. Step-Daughters, Ashley (Mani Martin), Amber (Perry Owens) and Atoya Armstrong.
