

Robert K Borel, 63, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully with his niece and friends by his side at his home on March 20th, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 2nd, 1959 in Shelbyville, IN to the late Robert Borel and Frances (McElroy) Ponder. Rob attended Wayne High School in Fort Wayne, he also went to the Fort Wayne Regional Vocational High school where he started to learn about the arts of photography. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1977. Rob attended college at IPFW where he got an associates degree in photography.
Rob loved the arts and his work in photography. Along with his own work, Rob also did some commercial work with many companies around the area. Rob worked with the Fort Wayne and Lakes magazine and also worked with the Fort Wayne Ballet. He worked with the ballet company and took classes with them for many years. Rob also worked with Canterbury High School photographing their senior students and classes for over thirty years. Rob was a very kind and compassionate soul. He was known and loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Rob is survived by his siblings, brother James Borel of Fort Wayne, IN, brother David Borel of Cary, NC, and sister Anne Borel of Vine Grove, KY. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, David Bopp, Adrienne Bopp, Melissa (Sam) Ashby, Alyssa (Ryan) Davenport, and Aaron Borel. And one great-niece and one great-nephew, Ella and Collin Davenport. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents and two uncles.
Per Rob’s request, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held on a later date to be determined. Arrangements have been entrusted to D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park funeral home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
