Robert R. Harkenrider, 84 of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Born February 20, 1934, he was the youngest son of the late Frank and Zula (Buchtel) Harkenrider. Robert served in the United States Army, and served as a Boiler Operator at the Embassy Theater, Falstaff Brewery and the V.A. Hospital of Northeast Indiana where he retired from in 1997. “Bobby” always had a second and favorite career working back stage theater operations and was a Gold Card member of Local 146 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. Robert was devoted to his family, worked hard his entire life and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and tinkering in his garage. He was persistent and could fix anything. Robert was a perfectionist at everything he did and he never threw anything away, as he felt he might just need that for parts sometime. He is survived by his only daughter, Kristi Harkenrider and his sister-in-law, Cleo (John) Harkenrider. Robert was preceded in death by his dear wife LaRene, whom he has missed for 20 years, his brothers, Virgil, Arthur (Marian), and John Harkenrider and his sisters, Elizabeth (Louis) Hartman, Mary (Donald) Vendrely and Betty Harkenrider. Service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11 AM at D O McComb & Sons-Covington Knolls Funeral Home 8325 Covington Road Fort Wayne, IN with visitation there on Thursday, January 17th from 4-8 PM and 10-11 AM Friday prior to the service.
