Robert D. “Bob” Harter, 76, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Born on July 11, 1946, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Otto and Cleo (Leitch) Harter and was a member of Headwaters Church, Fort Wayne. Bob proudly served his country in the Air Force and retired from Dana Corp after more than 30 years of service. He was also a member of US Steel Workers Union, Local #903, and the VFW Post #857.
He is survived by his sons, Jason (Sarah) Harter, David Harter, and Chadwick (April) Harter; grandchildren, Kyle and Heather Dillon; and siblings, Larry (Judy) Harter, Juanita Gasper, and Pamela Reed. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Kathleen Nodine, Barbara Wilcox, Alvin Harter, Franklin Harter, and James Harter.
Funeral service will be 1:30 pm, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, May 1, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
