Robert F. Hartwig

Robert F. Hartwig, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home. He was born February 25, 1927 in Fort Wayne. He retired in March 1985 from Navistar International after 30 years of service. He was a charter member of Fort Wayne Flying Circuits and also a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, UAW Local 305 and American Legion Post 420, Monroeville. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Hartwig, of Fort Wayne; children, Pamela (Steve) Slentz, of Waterloo and Cindy (Michael) King, of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Courtney Klopfenstein, Alex Klopfenstein, Cody (Rachael) King and Lincoln Slentz; great grandaughter, Macie Joan Hall and brother, John "Jack" (Joan) Hartwig, of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith Hartwig and brothers, Richard (Louise) and James (Gloria) Hartwig. Memorial Service is 2:00 pm Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton, Winchester Rd Chapel, 6424 Winchester Rd with callng from 1:00-5:00pm at the funeral home.
