ROBERT E. "BOB" MARSHALL, 79, of Naples, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011. Born Aug. 22, 1932, in Muncie, Ind., he was the son of the late Charles and Agnes Marshall. He was raised in Fort Wayne where he graduated from Central Catholic High School. He briefly attended Ball State University before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. After proudly serving for three years, he returned to Ball State where he graduated with a B.S. in Education and a Master's in Special Education. He devoted 32 years to Fort Wayne Community Schools as a teacher, and Director of Special Education and Principal of Brentwood Elementary School where he was nicknamed, "Mr. Marshmallow." Retiring in 1991, he and his wife, Joan moved to Naples. When boredom set in and Bob realized he couldn't play golf every day, he went to work for the Department of Juvenile Justice. He was there for 10 years and worked as a Collier County Community Deputy for two years when failing health forced him to retire permanently. One of Bob's greatest pleasures was being an active member of the Sunday Morning Skins golf group at Lely Hibiscus Golf Club for 17 years. He and Joan organized several tournaments to benefit local residents in need. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan; daughters, Bridget (James) Morris of Miami, Fla. and Milissa (Michael) Klimkofski of Fort Wayne; and grandsons, Cody and Zachary. Private services. Contributions in Bob's memory may be made to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105. For online condolences, visit www.fullerfuneralhome.com
