

Robert Joe “Bob” Ross, age 70, passed away while on a family vacation in Gulf Shores, Alabama, surrounded by the love of his family. Bob was born on April 16, 1956, in Bluffton, Indiana, to the late Elsie Ross and Gerald Ross.
Bob lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and a deep love for his family and friends. He built his career in logistics, where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, Bob embraced life with enthusiasm and joy.
In his younger years, Bob was an active athlete, playing on a softball team and participating in a bowling league. Throughout his life, he remained passionate about sports and especially enjoyed golfing. He was a loyal fan of NASCAR, the Chicago Cubs, and Indiana University basketball, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his favorite teams.
Bob had a special gift in the kitchen and was known as a fabulous cook. He especially loved grilling and took great pride in preparing meals that brought family and friends together. Those gatherings, filled with laughter and good food, were some of the moments he treasured most.
He will be remembered as a hardworking man with a great sense of humor, someone who could always make others smile. Bob was the kind of person who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether family, friend, or neighbor. His generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Bob was a proud member of AMVETS Post 33, where he found camaraderie and connection with fellow members.
He is lovingly survived by his children, Jody Ross, Jennie Ross, Joseph Ross, and Jessica Ross; his grandchildren, Savannah, Cameron, Lilli, Kiylee, Kimberlynn, and Harmony; and his brothers, Jerry Ross and Michael Ross.
Visitation will be held at Advantage Funeral Home – Highland Park on May 12th, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
In accordance with his wishes, Bob will be cremated. His ashes will be spread at Indian Lake, a place that held many cherished memories of fishing trips and time spent with loved ones.
Bob’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
