Robert Sherman Sims

He graduated from Central High School.

Robert worked at International Harvester for over 20 years and retired from Foamex in Auburn, IN after 21 years of service, retiring November 2012.

He enjoyed fishing and playing baseball as a younger man.

He liked grilling and being outside, tinkering in the garage, and mowing the grass. He enjoyed going to Fish Lake. He enjoyed watching historical documentaries on TV. He also enjoyed the lighter side of TV, Mash, Barney Miller, British comedies, and the Red Green show. He was passionate about his Grand Kids. He loved spending time with them whether it was cartoons or outside watching them ride their bikes. Giving them rides on the lawn mower. Or taking them to get McDonalds.

Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen Ann Sims (nee Vachon), of LaOtto, IN; daughters, Kimberly (Jon) Mundy of Columbia, City, Laura (Thad Coons) Sims of LaOtto, IN; sisters, Vickie (Lloyd) Grimes of Fort Wayne, IN; Debra (Phil) Clark, Huntertown, IN; grandchildren, Piper Ann Coons, Gaige Mason Coons, both of LaOtto, IN; Arianna Nicole Mundy, of Columbia City, IN; and a great grandson, Shiloh Jay Coons, of LaOtto, IN. He had many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Monday, April 27, 2026, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14607 Bluffton Road, Yoder, IN 46798, with one hour prior. Visitation also from 2-6 P.M. Sunday, April 26, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Committal and burial at St. Aloysius Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation.
