Robert Sherman Sims

He graduated from Central High School.

Robert worked at International Harvester for over 20 years and retired from Foamex in Auburn, IN after 21 years of service, retiring in November 2012.

He enjoyed fishing and playing baseball as a younger man.

He liked grilling and being outside, tinkering in the garage, and mowing the grass. He enjoyed going to Fish Lake. He enjoyed watching historical documentaries on TV. He also enjoyed the lighter side of TV; Mash, Barney Miller, British comedies, and the Red Green show. He was passionate about his grandkids and loved spending time with them. Whether it was cartoons or going outside and watching them ride their bikes. He enjoyed giving them rides on the lawn mower and taking them to get McDonalds.

Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen Ann Sims (née Vachon), of LaOtto, IN; daughters, Kimberly (Jon) Mundy of Columbia City, Laura (Thad Coons) Sims of LaOtto, IN; sisters, Vickie (Lloyd) Grimes of Fort Wayne, IN, Debra (Phil) Clark, of Huntertown, IN; grandchildren, Piper Ann Coons, and Gaige Mason Coons, both of LaOtto, IN and Arianna Nicole Mundy, of Columbia City, IN; and a great-grandson, Shiloh Jay Coons, of LaOtto, IN. He as well is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Monday, April 27, 2026, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14607 Bluffton Road, Yoder, IN 46798, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 - 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Committal and burial at St. Aloysius Catholic Church Cemetery.
