Robert C. Soest Maj.(retired) USAF

U.S.A.F. Maj. ROBERT C. SOEST (retired), 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at Parkview Hospital. Born April 4, 1924, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Clarence Soest and Mary (Fuchshuber) Soest. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a firefighter for the city of Fort Wayne. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Firefighters Union; volunteered at Lutheran Life Villages and Associated Church's Food Bank; was a member of American Legion Post 296 and R.O.A. (Reserve Officers Association). Surviving are his wife, Marcelene M. (Reuille) Soest of Fort Wayne; two sons, James R. (JoAnne) Soest of Fort Wayne and Michael C. (Julie) Soest of Sarasota, Fla.; one daughter, Nannette (David) McGuigan of Centennial, Colorado; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Clarence Soest of Wolcottville. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Jeff Geisler officiating.
