So blessed to have known Rollie.  An incredibly caring and kind man.  He was a tremendous influence on both of my sons.  He was supportive and always a teacher.  Thank you, Rollie for all of the years that you gave of yourself to teach the many kids that you helped to mold their lives.  You will be missed.

I am incredibly thankful for Rollie and the impact he had on me and so many countless others throughout an amazing coaching and teaching career, and over a life well lived. When I think of Rollie I’ll remember someone who was genuinely caring, generous, and loyal - all in a way that makes him truly rare and special. I’ll always appreciate the way he believed in me, stuck with me, and gave me opportunities. I know I’m not alone in my gratitude for his leadership and friendship, and he will be missed. 

Thank you Coach. Very proud and humbled just to be a small part of your incredible legacy. 

Rollie was a great man and coach, I wish I would have had him in class.  I will miss seeing and talking to him at church.  My greatest memories from soccer include him telling us which trees to run around when we messed up a drill in practice (sometimes it felt like we ran more than the cross country team)!

I will be wearing my soccer apparel this weekend in memory of Rollie.

Class of '99

On behalf of the thousands of kids that Rollie coached in soccer over the years, a sincere thank you! He impacted all those that he surrounded. His quick one liners and phrases were stuff of legends! Rollie never got too high or low but always got his point across and was always encouraging.  A couple of memories include a practice when we acted up and proceeded to run for 2 straight hours.  Rollie also surprised me by making me an all conference player my senior year and helping me get a scholarship when I didn’t think I was good enough for either. His impact went beyond the soccer program as he announced/coached boys and girls basketball as well. I cherish our last conversations at the Nancy Rehm Border Wars games that he attended to support student athletes and his friend Tom Rehm. I officiated the games and in between talked to Rollie for 30 minuets or so about my family, soccer, and all the guys in my class. He always wanted to see how everyone was doing which meant a lot! And I got my fill of Rollie Classic one liners. Truly an icon and legend that will be missed! Hopefully some other players can share a memory and relate. Thanks for the ride Coach Clements!

I've known Rollie almost 30years, mostly thru my soccer affiliations here in Ft Wayne. In that time span, I never heard a disparaging word about anyone(and I was an opposing coach and HS referee). He respected everyone he worked with and for. He was a kind and decent human being, who will be greatly missed  by so many.
RIP Coach Clements!

It’s hard to believe Rollie is no longer with us at Carroll High School. You could always count on Rollie to share a “remember when” or “remember (insert name)” story.  Rollie was never too busy to chat or share a memory.  He had many clichés that rolled off his tongue.
One personal story about Coach Clements: my son drove Rollie crazy his freshman year of soccer. This was due to the amount of horseplay  displayed off the field.   He played soccer for Coach Clements all through high school and at the end of his Senior year Coach awarded him the “Mental Attitude” award.  This was difficult for Rollie to have imagined years earlier yet speaks volumes about the man Rollie was – forgiving, teacher and mentor.

Mr. Clements, you had me for science for one year (1991-92 school year at St. Vincent's) and, yet, you maintained a lifelong interest and investment in me. For nearly 30 years, you kept up with where I was living and what I was doing. You always asked, with genuine care, about what was happening with me. You always had a smile and cheerful greeting for me. When I lived away, you would ask my parents about me. 

Thank you for being you- a faithful Catholic who loved and cared for his students. Enjoy the fruits of a life well lived... I'm sure you're kicking a soccer ball around heaven as I type this. 

Rest in peace. You will be remembered and missed. 

Condolences to the family of Mr. Clements.

I was a substitute teacher several times for Mr. Clements.  When I substituted across the hallway from his classroom, he would always come out to ask about my grandson and how his college football playing was going.  He was such a nice man.

Rollie dedicated his entire life to helping young athletes and students build a solid foundation for successful lives. He and I worked in rooms next to each other for the past 13 years so I know his work ethic very well. Rollie knew nearly everything and everyone there was to know in our school system. I knew that I could always go to him with questions about history, the community, politics, or just how to do something like disarm the school alarm or "who to contact" type issues. He retired from our Science department last year, but he continued his career in education @ NACS in a different role and retained the CHS Soccer Head Coach position. He either coached or was at the majority of sporting events to help with supervision, coaching, or cheer the Chargers on. Rollie just kept on rolling with whatever life threw his way. It deeply saddened me that Rollie's last year in the traditional classroom ended with the pandemic remote environment. Remote teaching was very challenging yet he just kept putting in all the elbow grease needed to figure out how to do it and how to continue to support his students. I was very proud of Rollie for his perseverance and continued dedication in such a challenging environment. It's impossible to tell just how many students will be carrying on the lessons of Mr./Coach Clements long into the future, but I know the numbers are in the thousands. On behalf of our department colleagues, students, and community I want to say thank you my friend. You will be truly missed.

Rollie was a colleague and a friend. I loved his sarcasm and his dry wit. He always kept me laughing.  
Rollie was so even-keeled in his temperament that he expressed his irritations in the same manner as he did anything positive. He was the best role model for rolling with the punches. 
Rollie lived his life for his school and his community.  Like everyone else, the Frazes will deeply miss Rollie. 

I met Rollie when I came to Ft Wayne to attend IPFW, remember all the great times we had at the Concordia Dorms. That was 1977 until the end we remained friends, thanks for all the great times, you will be missed
