

Russell Frank Aking Cowherd Jr. 16, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away July 22, 2024 at the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born May 3, 2008, in Fort Wayne, IN, the son of Angela Miller of Fort Wayne, IN and Russell Cowherd Sr. of Madison, WI. Russell was a 9th grade student at Wayne High School. His hobbies included painting, coloring, sleep overs and all night video games. Russell’s favorite superhero was Batman. He was a very sweet and kind hearted young man and enjoyed being with his family.
Russell Frank Aking Cowherd Jr, also known as “Lil Man" and "Too Boo", was a valiant fighter and warrior. Russell fought to live his entire life. Russell loved to paint and color pictures. He enjoyed his 100 plus stuffed animals each having their own name and he remembered every one of them. He collected action figures and anime figures. He loved Naruto and Goku.
Russell's family meant everything to him as he was his family's joy and light. Russell loved to have sleepovers with his family and played video games all night long with them.
Russell loved music and had an extensive playlist that he played on his many trips to Riley Hospital and during dialysis. His favorite song was Addictive Love by BeBe & CeCe Winans. It always brought him peace and comfort when he listened to it. Russell was recently studying to get his driver's license. He was determined he was going to get a black 1967 Chevy Impala for his first car. Russell loved to wear his suits and hats; he called them his "PawPaw" suits. His favorite was a black three-piece suit with different colored shirts, red being his favorite.
Russell brought so very much joy to our lives and he will be missed by an enormous amount of family and friends. Anyone who ever met Russell loved him. He was kind-hearted. He never liked when people were being disrespectful or mean to one another. In honor of Russell, please be kind to one another and sign up to be an organ donor.
He is survived by his mother, Angela Miller; father, Russell Frank Cowherd Jr.; sister, Meiyani Cowherd; brothers, Michael Banks, Denico Ward, and Faderick Riley; grandparents, Colleen Constant and Stella Chamblis; uncles, Dameon Jones, John Miller Jr., Harold Waller, Russell Duplessis, Tony Jones, Darnell Roberson, and Willie Miles; aunts, Jonae Miller, Natalie Miller, Nicole Miller Amanda Serrano, Judy (Mike) Pratcher, Sonya (Wayne) Bailey, Flora (Thomas) Riley, Jannifer Miller, Susan Chamblis Frelix, Carol Davis, Jadqueline Chamblis, and Arnella Morales. He is also survived by special family, Robert Fritz William, Eulla King, Monica (Bob) Gustin, Kobe Gustin, Kirsten Carey, Sincere Williams, Malcom Banks, Braylen Banks, Ramari Harris, Davon Harris, Mason Parker, Malcom Banks, Belinda King, Lisa King, Anthony King, Ouida King, Lawrence King, Ernestine King, Michael King, Tiffany Polk, Darnell Walker, Arrington Page, and Caran Chapman.
Russell was preceded in death by a brother, Angel Cowherd; grandfathers; John O. Miller, Russel Cowherd, and Ewing Thomas; aunts, Sonja Miles, Joyce Riley, and Herman King.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 pm Saturday, August 3, 2024 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN with visitation two hours prior.
