Russell Emmitt Harker, 85, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Warsaw, Indiana, on November 11, 1936, he was a son to the late George D. and Mable (Croy) Harker. Russell was a member of the United States Army and later completed schooling to become a licensed hair barber. After working as a barber for more than 12 years, he worked at General Electric, and later as a Funeral Service Assistant for Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes. Russell greatly enjoyed his career with the funeral home and treasured the many connections that were made during his years of service. Russell collected teacups, eyewash cups, and loved trains. He also loved animals, especially his "puppy dogs" and Himalayan cat. Russell is survived by his daughter, Mary (Richard) Spaulding; son, George Harker; grandchildren, Brian (Tanya), Kevin, Nick (Kelly), and Jayson (Krystal); 10 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his six siblings; and one great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Covington Memorial Gardens.
