I am karen’s cousin. My family rented the front cottage from Sam for 4 years in the 90’s during which we spent quite a bit of time with Sam. He was always warm to our family, quick with a smile and a kind word. He taught jack to barefoot in the early morning hours and I will always fondly remember them pulling back up to the dock afterward, windblown and happy. We are sad to hear of his passing and send our deepest sympathies to all his family.

Sam always attended my and Kristen’s athletic and academic events. I will miss Sam. There are a lot of memories that I would not have if it weren’t for him; like going to Florida, snow-skiing in Michigan and barefooting at the lake. I will always be grateful for the memories I have and things I learned through Sam.

Kathy and I along with our boys enjoyed spending time with Sam at Lake Tippy. We also shared Purdue Basketball tickets with Sam. I enjoyed skiing with Sam early mornings on Tippy. We will miss him and will always remember him as a friend of our family. Sympathy to Sam's family.

Sam was a wonderful, caring neighbor. He always asked about my husband and if Tim was sitting outside Sam made sure to come over to spend time with him. He will be truly missed.
