Samuel D Satterthwaite

Samuel D. Satterthwaite, 87, passed away Thursday March 3, 2022 at Auburn Village in Auburn, IN. He was born February 17, 1935 in Saint Francisville, Il. Sam was a Journalist with the News Sentinel for 31 years and retired in 1997. He earned two Reporter of the Year awards from the Fraternal Order of the Police in 1967 and 1970. He worked alongside his wife at their family business, North by Northeast Inc. He was a longtime member of St. Joe United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne Masonic Lodge and the Mizpah Shrine.

He is survived by his children, Pamila (Mike) Bissell, Robin (Steve) Aldred, S. Cullen Satterthwaite, Tania Fox, grandchildren, Teah (Aaron) Aldred-Ash, Ian Aldred, Samuel I. Satterthwaite, Leira Satterthwaite, Kayla Fox, and Nicholas Fox. Samuel was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Satterthwaite, son in law Steve Fox, and daughter in law Mary K. Satterthwaite.

Private service will be conducted. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joe United Methodist Church Youth and Children’s Programs or Shriners Children’s Hospital. Arrangements by D.O.
