Sandra Ann Swanson

Sandra Swanson (Batz) was called home on March 2, 2026. She lived a life of faith, family and service. Through years of fellowship and mission work, she touched countless lives. She took great joy in quilting and sending military care packages. She was always willing to give of herself wherever it was needed, especially within her church community.

Her family was her world. She found her greatest joy in being with her family. She married her loving husband Jack in June of 1982. Their mutual love of all things Indiana University sports and all Chicago Professional Sports made for over 43 wonderful years of memories together.

She ensured her only child, Kim, was surrounded by love, laughter and a variety of music; especially Elvis, Neil Diamond and the Beatles. There was always music playing and dancing in the house. There was always time to share and treasure stories and Polish food with family from all generations. She took great pride in her heritage.

Being a grandparent filled her beyond measure. The sun rose and set on them, and they were always in her thoughts and heart. She welcomed every moment and valued memories. The only comparable joy was the welcoming of great-grandchildren. Family was the ultimate gift and was cherished as such.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Swanson; daughter, Kim Robinson, husband Chris; grandchildren, Hollie Anderson, Christie Watkins, husband Ben, Jordan Robinson and Erin Robinson; nephew, Dale Batz, wife Cindy; brother-in-law, Bruce Swanson; and 6 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude and Ed Sonnenberg Jr.; Leo Batz; siblings, Norman (Shirley) Batz and Robert Batz.

Memorial gathering will be on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6606 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835. Service at 3:00 pm, with a meal to follow in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Epiphany Lutheran Church.
