A longtime resident of Fort Wayne, he was a retired Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, where he served two tours in Afghanistan. Scott loved the six years spent at Fort Campbell, KY in 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry "Iron Rakkasans." He was a beloved soldier, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Surviving are his wife, Tobitha (Harris) Harmeyer; mother, Jeanette Harmeyer; sister, Melonie Chavez; brother, Steven Young; nieces Nicole Chavez and Layla Chavez; and nephew, Jacob Chavez.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Harmeyer.
Services will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2016, at Klaehn, Fahl, & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Visitation hours will be
3-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016.
Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery.
