Born on July 24, 1968, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Von and Johanna Hoffacker. Shen was a graduate of Heritage High School and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He maintained strong, lasting relationships with both his high school and college friends, built on loyalty, laughter, and shared history.
Shen’s faith was the foundation of his life. It shaped the way he loved his family, treated others, and carried himself through both success and challenge.
He built a successful career working in sales and manufacturing before moving into corporate procurement. He was respected for his work ethic, integrity, and ability to build meaningful relationships throughout his professional life.
More than anything, Shen was devoted to his family and cherished each sporting event, performance, or milestone in his children’s lives. He taught life lessons not just with words, but by example: work hard, stand firm in your faith, care for others, and keep your sense of humor.
Shen treasured shared interests with Alex, like going to Colts games, attending the Indy 500, doing projects around the house, and their love of sports cars. He was immensely proud of Madison’s career as a teacher and her big heart for helping others. He enjoyed firing up his Traeger grill and spending time with the Boxers he loved over the years.
He was kind, quick-witted, and known for his sarcasm and perfectly timed one-liners that could lighten any moment. Shen and Michelle were blessed with a tight-knit group of neighbors who became like family. Whether gathered on a driveway or simply sharing everyday life, those friendships meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his children, Madison and Alex Hoffacker; his mother, Johanna Hoffacker; and his nephews, Mason and Pierson Barnes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Von Hoffacker, and his sister, Kerrie Barnes.
