Stanford L. “Stan” Thompson, 94, of Fort Wayne passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021. He was born on September 11, 1927, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late T.W. and Hilda (Leasure) Thompson. He graduated from North Side High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as an airplane mechanic at both Smith Field and Baer Field and later retired from Wayne Asphalt. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter for many years. He was a past president of the Crosley car club, Florida Chapter. He also enjoyed going fishing. Surviving family include his daughters, Renee Dammeyer and Lorrie Thompson; grandchildren, Nicholas, Michelle, Adam, and Kent; and 11 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife, Carole (Everett) Thompson. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the Fort Wayne Firefighters Museum.
