

Stephan Craig "Steve" Burton, 75, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Steve was the son of the late Clyde and Marie (Calcoff) Burton. Steve graduated from South Side High School, class of 1961 where he was active in basketball, football, and track. During the summers he played baseball where he competed in the Pony League World Series in Williamsburg, PA in 1957. Steve was a 3rd generation City of Fort Wayne Police Officer where he served for 28 years. Following his service at FWPD he was a police officer at IPFW for 18 years. He had been a current employee at Citizens Square in Fort Wayne. He was a 50 year member of FOP Lodge #14, South Side Alumni, and a lifetime supporter of the Fort Wayne PAL Club. Steve played softball and basketball on the FWPD teams. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on Purdue and the Colts. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard and his cars. He loved his family and enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's school activities. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Jane Burton; sons, Jeff (Amy) Burton, Tim (Chanel) Burton, Andy Burton; grandchildren, Reed, Ryan, Reese, Marce, Molly, Jake, Chase, and Natalie; sister, Susan (Greg) Topper; brother, Brian (Amie) Burton; and sister-in-law Linda Bloom. Service is 2:00 pm, Wednesday November 22, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road with calling from 10:00 am until the service.
