

Terry Franklin Matthews, 67, of Fort Wayne, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his home. He was born on July 3, 1945 in Fort Wayne to the late Frank and Goldie (Aurrand) Matthews. He served as a Marine in Japan during the Vietnam War, and retired from Supervalu in 2005 after working 34 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 296, St. Joe Athletic Club, and The Navy Club. Because of his reputation for giving generous support to anyone in need, he will affectionately be remembered as “Dad” by family, friends, and coworkers alike. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Dianne (King) Matthews; children, Cheri Knake, Tamara Amberg, Kimberly (Troy) Rushing, and Scott Matthews all of Fort Wayne; brother, Larry (Connie) Matthews of Chesaning, MI; 15 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by son-in-law, Joel Amberg. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne with visitation at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family in Terry’s name for distribution to local charities.
