Thelma A. Smith

Thelma was the oldest of six children and is survived by her brother, Jim (Rebecca) Armentrout. Thelma met her husband of over sixty years, Rev. Elbert A. (Smitty) Smith, Jr., when he was a student at Louisville Theological Seminary. They spent their entire married life in Indiana. Thelma worked at the Decatur Public and St. Francis College Libraries and as an executive secretary at Park Center Mental Health Center. Thelma and Smitty had three children, David (Helen) Manning, SC, Peggy, Fort Wayne and Jeff (Cathy). She is survived by David and Peggy, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fort Wayne, for over 50 years. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Elbert A. Smith; and her son, Jeff.

A memorial service to honor Thelma's memory will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior.
