Early Thursday morning at 12:52 am on July 23, 2026, she said goodbye to the troubles of this old world, and moved on up a little higher, at the age of 84.
She accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age, while in Alabama.
Theornia graduated from Western Olin High School in Birmingham, Alabama. She later enrolled in Miles College (HBC) and received her Bachelor of Science in Education. During her teaching career she nurtured and educated countless number of students throughout Alabama, Georgia and Indiana.
In 1972, she united with Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. John Dixie Jr. Her faithful membership continued under the leadership of Pastor Sam Shade Jr. and Pastor Raymond C. Dix Jr.
When she wasn't out shopping, Theornia loved watching her soap operas, The Young and The Restless and General Hospital.
She was previously employed by International Harvester Trucking and Parkview Hospital.
Theornia, a loving mother, leaves behind her daughter, Erica Starks and son Jerry Starks Jr.; a special daughter, Yolanda Turner; three grandsons, Marquis Starks, Jerry Starks III and Jaden Starks and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Life Celebration at 12:00 pm.
Guests are asked to wear bright "happy" colors in Theornia's memory.
