Thomas “Tom” Edward Christie, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 79 in Leesburg, Florida. Born on July 13, 1946, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Tom was the son of Gerald and Thelma (Exner) Christie, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1964, where he met the love of his life, Diane (Taylor). The two were high school sweethearts and married shortly after graduation, beginning a life together that would span 59 years of love, laughter, and memories.
Tom proudly served in the Indiana National Guard, a chapter of his life that demonstrated his deep sense of duty and love for his country. He worked at International Harvester, where he dedicated many years to his craft before retiring to enjoy a more leisurely life in Florida with Diane. There, they embraced the warmth of the sun, played countless rounds of golf, and savored their golden years together.
Throughout his life, Tom had many passions. He was an avid car racing fan and a dedicated supporter of the Chicago Cubs. He took immense pride in his beautifully manicured yard. A skilled craftsman, Tom enjoyed building and fixing things around the house, finding satisfaction in creating something with his hands. Though he was a man of few words and a serious demeanor, his love for his family and support for those he cared about spoke volumes.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Diane, children Kendra (Christie) Teasley and husband Christopher, and Brian Christie and wife, MaryJane. He was a proud grandfather to Taylor (Norton) Anderson and husband Matthew, parents to his two great-grandsons, Ashton and Julian. He is also survived by Joe and Judy Christie, Janice (Christie) and Bruce Reinke, Jackie (Christie) and Randy Davis.
Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
