Thomas Owen Moberg of Fort Wayne, Indiana was called home by the good Lord on October 3, 2026 at the age of 59. He was born the middle child of Bob and Gwen Moberg in Lafayette, Indiana on October 4, 1966. The earliest days of his life were spent on a small farm in Darlington, IN. It was there that his love of tractors, family, and dogs was likely spawned.
Throughout his childhood, his family relocated to follow his fathers career path to Cincinnati, Cleveland and eventually they settled in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he graduated from Homestead High School in 1985. It was during these formative years that he developed his strong work ethic, melding his academic life with extracurricular activities, like Swim team and Marching Band, and side jobs like paper routes, and the family lawn care business.
After high school graduation, he headed to Purdue University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Management in 1989. While there, he participated in the Marching Band all 4 years. He often stated that he loved the marching band, because it was the perfect way to make a large number of friends instantaneously. It also provided the perfect venue for his love of bringing people together through laughter. He was notorious amongst his friends and family for his obscure comments, corny "Dad Jokes," and infectious laughter.
Tom started his career with GE Motors on July 5, 1990. He worked there until 2018, when Wolong Motors bought his division, and continued with Wolong until his passing. Shortly after starting at GE, he married the love of his life Jennifer Scherer on January 5, 1991. In their 35+ years of marriage, they raised two amazing children. Tom was always an intuitive and dedicated protector of his family and any friends he deemed to be "his." He considered it an obligation to help "his" people in any way possible, be it emotional, physical or even financial.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert Walter Moberg, and Gwendolyn Swann (Whipple) Moberg. Tom is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Scherer) Moberg; 2 children, Elizabeth (Christian Roberts) Moberg, and Nathan Moberg; 2 brothers, Robert W. (Diane) Moberg II, and Chris (Anne) Moberg; 2 nieces, Marina Moberg, and Rachel Moberg; and Nephew, Sam Moberg.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, October 12, 2026 at Greenlawn Funeral Home with calling two hours prior. The burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Packnett Family Cancer Institute, or the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers.
