Timothy Wayne Updike, 63, of New Haven, Indiana, passed away on October 16, 2026, at Parkview Hospital Randallia. He was born October 25, 1962, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the son of the late Clyde and Patricia Updike.
Tim graduated from New Haven High School in 1982. He later devoted his working life to steady, behind-the-scenes service—first as a manager at Pizza King in the Waynedale area for several years, and then at Parkview Hospital Randallia and Parkview Regional Medical Center in the shipping and receiving departments, where he retired after 18 years of service.
Those who knew Tim remember not only his reliability, but also the bright lift he brought to everyday moments—often with a well-timed sense of humor, a warm presence, and a smile that stayed with you. He met life with determination and strength, refusing to be defined by disability and choosing instead to make the most of each day with his powerchair—an example that quietly encouraged others and spoke to the resilience at the center of who he was.
Tim found joy in simple, meaningful pleasures: listening to country music, tending to his flower garden, being outdoors, and cooking. He and his wife, Judith, loved to travel—especially to Nashville—and they treasured time spent near the ocean at Virgina Beach. He was known for the bluest eye and the biggest smile.
Tim is survived by his wife, Judith Updike of New Haven, IN; daughters, Misty (Jesse) Arellano of LaOtto, IN; Jessica (Andy) Thompson of Huntington, IN; and Autumn Updike of New Haven, IN; brother, Michael (Patty) Updike of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Ayden Thompson, Araya Arellano, Alexiana Arellano, and Olivia Thompson; and his beloved cats and dogs.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with visitation one hour prior.
