IN THE CARE OF
D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park
Dr. Todd Sider, 67, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and his two adored cats.
Dr. Sider devoted his working life to the practice of general surgery and served the Parkview Health community for 20 years. He was a longtime member of Congregation Achduth Vesholom in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Known for his southern rock preferences in the operating room and his enthusiasm for hand hygiene in and outside the hospital, Dr. Sider’s commitment to quality patient care was an inspiration to many. His peers and staff found wisdom and integrity in his leadership as Associate Chief Medical Officer at Parkview Health and many others benefited from his mentorship over the years. Patients recognized his high standards and sense of humor.
These values were mirrored in Dr. Sider’s love for his family. He was married to the love of his life, Katherine Ann Sider, for 36 years. Together, they built a family that valued repairing the world (tikkun olam), travel, the outdoors, good grammar, life-long learning, and delicious meals. He sought discovery and perfection in all that he did, from scuba diving to electric guitar to orchid collecting to golf.
Dr. Sider was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and grew up in cities as wide-ranging as Washington, D.C. and Singapore. After graduating from Johns Hopkins University in 1979, he completed medical school at the University of Virginia before taking up his surgery residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
Dr. Sider’s career led him to practice in Florida between 1990 and 2004 before relocating to Fort Wayne, where he worked for Indiana Surgical Specialists between 2004 and 2013 and Parkview Physicians Group between 2013 and 2019. Dr. Sider became an Associate Chief Medical Officer at Parkview in 2019.
Dr. Sider was preceded in death by his father Don Sider. He is survived by his wife Katherine (Kathy), two daughters Rachel and Jaclyn, mother Margot Kravitz, brother Dean (Andrea) Sider, sister Darby (Barry Hummel) Sider, brother-in-law Chris (Paula) Knight, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on June 20, 2024 at Congregation Achduth Vesholom, 5200 Old Mill Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46807. Visitation with family and friends will follow the service.
