

Ulysses Striverson Sr. (Maine) was born on October 14, 1947, in Greensboro, Alabama. He was born to the late Amanda Striverson (Smith). He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
He was baptized on July 10, 1962, at Good Hope Baptist Church by Reverend Chestley Whitt Jr.
In June 1966, he graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After graduating from high school, he began working for BF Goodrich (Michelin) as a tire builder. He was inducted into the United States Army in August of 1967 and was honorably discharged.
In April 1970, he was united in holy matrimony to Jo Carol Striverson (King) and unto this union two children were born, Ulysses Jr. and Natasha Striverson.
In 2008, he retired from BF Goodrich (Michelin) after 42 years of dedicated service as a Quality Manager and for the last decade of his career at BF Goodrich (Michelin), he gave his guidance and leadership to the annual employee golf outings.
He was a faithful member of Grace United Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Executive Board, Finance Committee, Kitchen Committee and participated in the Mass choir and the Men’s chorale group. He was also heavily involved with the building maintenance and the church grounds.
He loved to go hunting, taking care of his yard, fishing and being on the golf course. He was also a member of the Par-Tee golf club. He cherished spending time with his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories to Jo Carol Striverson (wife); son, Ulysses (Dawn) Striverson Jr.; daughter, Natasha (Chaeill Lee) Striverson of Fort Wayne; granddaughters, Aaliyah Striverson-Shaw, Nisa Striverson, Alana Striverson, Kynidi Striverson, Jada Striverson; sisters, Gloria Franklin of California, Janet Striverson of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Wendy Ann (William) King Minor of Alabama; brothers, Theodore Striverson, Robert (Carletta) Striverson, James Striverson, Willie G. Smith, Eric Smith, Mark Smith of California, Ronald Smith of Georgia, Willie McCloud (adopted); and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Amanda and Willie G. Smith; mother-in-law, Jessie Mae King; sister and brother-in-law, Eddie Mae and William E. Epperson Sr.; sister, Daisy Cowan; sister-in-law, Mae Hicks; and brother, Jeffrey Lynn Smith.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Grace United Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 Phenie Street, Fort Wayne, (46802), with visitation two hours prior. Interment will follow service at Concordia Gardens Cemetery, 5365 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, (46815).
