Vera J. Buhr

Vera J. Buhr, 90, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Golden Years Nursing Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Vera was born in New Haven, Indiana, to the late Herman Vonderau and the late Helena (Meyer) Vonderau Bradtmiller.
Vera was united in marriage to Elmer Buhr on July 14, 1951, and he survives. she was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, where she was the school secretary and church bookkeeper for over 25 years until her retirement in 1994. Vera was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by Elmer, her loving husband of almost 71 years; her children, Roger (Hali) Buhr, Lois (Tom) Ehle, Joyce (Jay) Koontz, Donna (Dan Gerlach) Leonard, and Ronald (Gail) Buhr; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Vonderau; and sister-in-law, Sophie Vonderau.
A funeral service to honor Vera's life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 1, 2022, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Reverend Steve Ahlersmeyer will be officiating. A calling will also take place from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne. She will be laid to rest at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
